If you are a fan of murder mysteries I can’t recommend this book enough. The author does a good job of playing both sides and sprinkling mathemtics into some of the probablities of the acts that occur. There’s a clear bias towards Tylenol, but it goes away each time he dives into the background of a potential suspect. You will flip flop on who did it, and why. I think this would make for a great Netflix documentary that the people would love.
I might be biased in this review, because I just love unsolved crimes and stories like this.
The Tylenol Mafia
I wanted to right this review since the book is still fresh in my head, and fresh in the news… Now I don’t know if the FBI was watching me or what, but I just happened to finally get around to reading this book. It’s been on my list for a long time actually.. I think I found out about it, after watching a DB Cooper doc on HBO and searched for unsolved FBI cases. I had it on my list and finally got around to reading it.
The wildest part of this whole review, as of yesterday (7/11), a prime suspect in this unsolved case passed away. Even my mother sent me this article because I was asking her questions about this incident. Is this a coincidence? I think not.
Regardless, the story of these two (spoilers) cyanide poisonings in the 80’s are fascinating. The author dives deep into the case, suspects, company, and motives behind the tragic incidents. It’s still an unsolved case, and like many of these cases may forever be left unsolved. The book takes you down every road and possibility of suspects, morals, and motives. It’s a solid book, the author put in their time to the research, and makes solid arguments for every side.
