I think this is a comic that belongs in any Spider-Man fan’s collection. If you grew up with this character, it’s just a must read to really understand the impact of his two loves.
I actually stumbled upon this story through a YouTube video. I stumbled upon that YouTube video through an Instagram reel, which listed the top 10 Spider-Man movies. A movie that was mentioned in the reel was, Spider-Man Lotus. I had never heard of this movie, but the CGI looked good. After a quick internet search it was actually a fan made film. The film takes inspiration from two Spider-Man stories, with Spider-Man Blue happening to be the biggest overarching plot.
Now I don’t want to go into detail, but it tells the story of Peter who is feeling blue on Valentine’s day, and recounts his time with Gwen Stacy. The six issue run, did an amazing job crafting an interesting story, recapping the story of Gwen, and really shined the light on the relationship between the Peter and his friends.
Feeling Blue…
I’m not sure how I missed this miniseries growing up, but I’m glad that I did. Let me tell you why…
I am not sure how this character and story captured me when I was a kid along millions of others when I was young. I can say that when I was younger I wanted the action, the “superhero”-y ness, and I probably glanced right over this if it didn’t contain Venom, the X-Men, or some other villian. What I can say is that I am glad that I discovered this comic today. Growing older (a little foreshadowing here) I know I appreciated this so much more from the writing, story, and emotions that it brought out.

Please take the time to give a watch to Spider-Man Lotus, linked below to support this fan-made film. It captures the theme and tone of the book really well. I’m sharing it below to add to your playlist, watch it on the bus, at work, or throw it on the big screen.
