Mamba Mentality

What it means to have the Mamba Mentality…

I was never a big enough basketball fan to really appreciate how great Kobe was, and why we all said “Kobe” throwing a paper ball into a trashcan in highschool. It wasn’t until maybe 2019-2020 when I got big into some YouTube motivational video mashups did I get finally understand why he was regarded as one of the top players ever. Maybe you even saw the Netflix documentary talking about the dream team, and the fact that the world stood still when he passed away.

If you are a Kobe fan, and better yet a basketball fan this book is one that you would enjoy. There are nostalgic photos, paragraphs written by Kobe, Pau, and Phil Jackson all throughout this book. He goes into single page detail for over 100 pages, against some of the players that he faced, gives them their credit, and tells you what he did to beat them. He was relentless. All the stories are true, and they are shown with countless examples from the man himself.

Reading this book now, has a different feeling to it. It’s a look back into what he was able to accomplish and how he did it. It was somber starting out, but then you realize he would want you to learn from it, and instill that mentality in whatever it is that you are doing in life.

If you’re a basketball fan, a Kobe fan, and a fan of the game. You should pick this book up when you get a chance. It gives you the opportunity to hear from the man himself all the things he accomplished, and what he did to improve his game each and every day. It’s tough to write this one, now knowing what a special human being Kobe was on this Earth.

Rating: 3 out of 5.
