Thoughts
I’ve been reading Spider-Man and one of his “biggest fans” since I was a kid in the early 2000’s. Getting to folllow the development of the character and the writing thus far has been pretty cool. As a young kid being so into comic books and relating to Peter Parker, always was pretty special to me. This new take on Spider-Man is refreshing, but also in my opinion is meant to capture my generation. The millennials who grew up with him.
The new series puts a spin on the origin story, and takes Peter through his life up until early to mid thirties and he has two kids and married to MJ. However, it’s at this point that he gets confronted with his new found powers. He already has a family, career, and responsibilities. I think it’s a cool take on the story, and as I get older makes things more relatable.
What if I got super-powers today? What would I do? Who would you tell? Does it make any difference getting powers as a kid or an adult?
To me it’s such an interesting take on the character, and I’m here for it to see how these first issues go. It’s not only the change in origin, but the supporting cast also has some different origins as well. From friends, allies, family, and foes the first 6 issues have been a cool trip down memory lane, and now re-imagined.
If you are like me and in your 30’s, to far behind in the Amazing Spider-Man run, and want something new to pickup, I highly recommend this series.
