You probably know him from his hit and one of my favorite TV shows, Bar Rescue. A show so great and re-watchable that you can watch clips of it on YouTube and not get tired of it. Jon is a legendary character in the show and in media. I started watching Bar Rescue during the early seasons when it was on Spike TV? or FX? before it was streaming on Paramount Plus.
In this book, Jon writes about all the excuses that everyone in this world seem to have. Their excuse of not having enough time, the economy, or that weather was bad for their business. Many of the chapters and stories in this book are examples from his real-life friends and other bars that he has rescued. He gives plenty of advice to the reader who might not know where to begin. There are no shortage of people who were able to start businesses with nothing. No money, no experience, or sometimes no good idea, but they made it work.
Jon has been one of those people on YouTube that I listen too when I need that extra push or motivation to get something done. That’s what this book is. Real life stories of people who were able to get everything with nothing. You have to speak it into existence, accept your circumstances, and create a clear vision where you want to go. The best tactic is to accept your situation, identify what you can do, and what you can’t do about it and attack. Throughout each of the chapters Jon focuses on 6 different main types of excuses that people usually bring up to him. So each chapter gets into detail, and then has some To Do’s at the end of each chapter. However, there’s nothing new here for the average reader, but that person who needs that motivation to get going!
If you are a fan of Jon’s teaching style this might be the book for you. Odds are if you are picking up this book and based on the title, you know what you have to do already. You are just putting it off by reading this book, instead put it down, and get to work. Jon is literally pointing at you on the book to get to work!
