Hidden Potential – Adam Grant

Thoughts

Adam Grant in the last few years has become one of my favorite authors and speakers. Everything that he puts out on LinkedIn or in a book is extremely insightful, but challenges every notion and way that you used to think. His books explore the social psychology of individuals and workplace group think.

Adam shares a ton of examples highlighting individuals and stories about the hidden potential in the average person. That our environment or other aspects might be holding us back from achieving more than we think are able to accomplish. He helps make the argument whether you are a company, hiring exec, or someone in HR to rethink how we should go about finding someone for their next role or position. Considering more than just grades and test scores to determine out trend and impact of our life in the real world.

I think if you like Adam Grant’s style of writing and other works it’s obviously a must pick up to add to your collection! Looking back at some takeaways from the book, it’s made me think of the hiring process not just how it applies to my own experience, but how it may apply to those that I am hiring and how I can better my own process.
