Food 2.0 Secrets from the Chef Who Fed Google by Charlie Ayers

Rating: 4 out of 5.

So for my first book review I’m gonna be covering food 2.0 by Charlie Ayers. I actually found out about this book from another productivity book that I can’t recall at the moment, but this book covered insights that were found and lead by other aspects to increase productivity, in this case food. I think aside from the title what interested me the most is the ideas of superfood that isn’t focused on physical performance, but rather mental performance.

I have nothing bad to say about this book other than majority of the book turns out to be primarily recipes towards the later half of the book. Which for me isn’t all that interesting, but the background of each recipe and why he chooses each ingredient. The book opens with an introduction, story of the early days of Google, and why Charlie makes the dishes that he does.

One of the coolest parts reading this book especially now in 2021 is looking back at the thoughts that Charlie had at the time about food, and is cool to know that I approached food in the same manner. Overall it’s an excellent read and you learn a lot about supermarkets which ingredients to use and especially what combinations of foods Google used to keep their employees performing at their peak throughout the day.
