My Longest Run

I feel like this one was a cool one that I did way back in 2022, which was probably my best running year. I was in the best shape and really dialed into everything running training and the like.
This was a training run, I believe leading up to the Coney Island half that year. My hips cramped up on this one, I was pretty beaten going into the last 2-3 miles. I was under hydrated and ill prepared. I was running purely on determination at this point. As time went on I think I got better at fueling and hydration for sure.

Not sure whatever made me do this. I was bored and the pandemic was in full swing. I also remember thinking that it would look cool overlayed on a map. So over the course of a weekend, I ran every named and numbered street in the city of Hoboken. It’s 1 square mile, but you can get 30 miles out of this little town. I broke this down into a 17 mile day and a 10 mile day the next day.
I wish I had the course data on both of these but they are buried in strava and elsewhere so maybe I’ll find them at some point.

Ah another really cool run. This one I tried to mix up a little bit and do some running through the city and change up the scenery starting at my old college campus and running all the way back to the bus. What I remember most from this one was how cold it was with the wind hitting my face throughout the entire run. I don’t think there was a time where the wind stopped. I also remember the looks on everyone’s faces coming down 8th ave as I was getting closer to the port authority.

The UA NYC Half Marathon, this is the one that could have been. I had done so much training leading up to this point. I was on track and was ready to break 90 mins in the half. I was close. I ended up taking a bad step in Jan, which caused a big calf strain and Achilles pain in this race. I think if I had some better shoes for this race, and prepped better 90 mins was all mine. This was the last race I remember that I didn’t even enjoy. It was all work here, I didn’t get a chance to check out the views, it went fast and I had a goal to hit. The cold definitely got me here. I was still proud of this one with a 7:05/mile pace this was a big one for me.

Ah this was during the height of my success I think. I felt fast, felt good, felt the turkey from the night before, and was ready to just finish this one so I could eat again. I think I felt my heart in my chest in this one through the whole race for a 6:28/mile pace I remember seeing it, but not even feeling tired after I crossed that finish line. I realistically think I could have broken some records in the 10k of my own if I kept going.
