Foods that work.

Just wanted to share some thoughts on nutrition that I personally follow, and along with some other aspects that I have learned, and what’s helped me perform better. When I say performance though I am not strictly talking athletic, I am talking performance for walking, going to school, staying mentally and physically healthy.

Recently I finished a book by Charlie Ayers,”Food 2.0″. He goes into detail about what types of foods and creations that he discovered worked best for his teammates at Google. While this book dates back to 2008 I surprisingly still follow a lot of his words of wisdom today, and have the same perception on food as they did back in 2008.

I’ve followed a couple different rules as my time as a college student, to being a grad-student, and finally a full time adult. Everything with food is really dependent on everyone’s situation and each person’s body is different, so I’m not trying to convince you of anything. I want to simply share what I base most of my diet around. So you are free to try it out for yourself.

Back in the high-school days there was a video that circulated around about a documentary for this bodybuilder. These 6 minutes never summed anything up so tightly and what the exact life of anyone who is trying to compete deals with on a constant basis (especially from an Italian family). I present to you, the 6 foods that work.

  1. Egg whites
  2. Oatmeal
  3. Tuna
  4. Banana
  5. Chicken Breast
  6. Brown rice/sweet potato

It’s funny watching this video now, and reflecting at the EXACT same conversations he’s having with his family. The same mental process he’s going through and the same differences that he has with his family and friends who just might not “get it”. Willing to sacrifice a few foods, events, holidays, gatherings, to achieve something. It’s something that some people just don’t understand if they aren’t trying to accomplish a goal.
