Personal Training Notebook

Background

I’m a pretty active individual or like to consider myself one. Being an athlete in college, and continuing to train now for half marathons I am always looking for an edge or way to optimize my time when I am working out. I was tired of having to write a new program every couple of weeks in my notebook every few weeks. The worst is when a notebook gets full, so you have to get a new one, and lose all of those workouts you made up in the moment and now can’t look back on.

I tried and used everything you can think of. Various gym tracking apps from the app store, physical notebooks, writing things in Word and printing them out, screen-shotting workouts, saving them in an email/cloud storage service, or the most notable go “in just do something “I’ll figure it out once I’m in there”. The piece that I missed the most from all of these though was that it was hard to input, or create new workouts for myself the way that I wanted too.

I was always limited to whatever the app I downloaded was, or if you did find a good app you usually have to pay for the features that made it so much more usable. I wanted something simple that could take in some data, exercises, and be there when I wanted it. I also didn’t want to just look a spreadsheet all day either. Those are so 2010. So I toyed around with a low-code platform that helped me create a little personalized tracker for myself.
